PURPLE STAR SCHOOL
Did you know Bradley is a Purple Star School? Purple Star schools show a significant commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces.

We help host two Military Appreciation Nights - one during football season and one during basketball season. We proudly invite our youth cheerleaders to join us on the sidelines for these events, cheering not only for our team but also in support of the brave military members in our community.

Our cheer program takes pride in being connected to our Hilliard community. We believe that the fan experience is important and we want to make each event special! Whether it's greeting guests at a game, volunteering at an elementary event, or working concessions - our cheerleaders sprinkle joy everywhere they go and are genuinely committed to serving their community!

TRADITIONS
Bradley opened its doors in 2009, and since then, our cheer program has created a number of special traditions that set us apart and make our team truly unique!
The Last Lap - Throughout the summer and fall, Bradley cheerleaders train hard to prepare for the football season, dedicating countless hours to perfecting their cheers, chants, band dances, jumps, tumbling, and crowd-leading skills. It’s a season filled with teamwork, perseverance, and growth. At the final high school football cheer practice, we honor our seniors in a special way—celebrating their journey by watching them run their very last lap around the track. This moment is symbolic, marking the end of their high school football cheer experience, and serves as a heartfelt send-off filled with pride and emotion as they complete their final lap.
The Coach Carrie Duckworth Chuck a Duck - The Duck Toss, a beloved tradition at Bradley basketball games, takes place during halftime. It was first introduced by Coach Duckworth during her time as the varsity basketball cheer coach. Participants eagerly throw themed rubber ducks onto the court, aiming for the bucket. This fun and lighthearted event brings joy to everyone involved and adds an extra layer of excitement to the game!
Awards Banquet Cookie Table - This tradition was started in honor of our very own, Coach Carrie Duckworth. Coach Ducky comes from the Youngstown area where a common tradition in celebrations is to have a Cookie Table! Members of the celebration bring a special sweet treat to share with others. We want to bring that special tradition to Bradley in Ducky's honor!
Alumni Sweatshirts - At the end of their cheer experience, Bradley cheerleaders are presented with special alumni cheer sweatshirts as a symbol of their dedication and accomplishments. These sweatshirts represent the lasting bond they share with the program. Alumni are then invited to proudly wear them at Alumni Night, where they join the current cheerleaders on the sidelines to cheer together, celebrating the traditions and memories that unite past and present members of the Bradley cheer family.
Senior Sashes - On Senior Night, Bradley cheerleaders are honored with special sashes as a symbol of recognition and celebration for their dedication and hard work throughout their years in the program. These sashes, worn proudly during the game, highlight the senior cheerleaders’ achievements and contributions to the team. It’s a heartfelt tradition that allows the cheerleaders to be celebrated by their teammates, coaches, and fans, marking the culmination of their cheerleading journey.
Senior Megaphones - At the start of their senior season, Bradley cheerleaders are gifted with personalized megaphones as a special tribute to their leadership and commitment to the program. These megaphones symbolize their role in leading the crowd and supporting their team. It’s a meaningful tradition that honors the seniors as they step into their final season, serving as both a keepsake and a reminder of their powerful voices and presence on the sidelines.
Senior Boards for Winter Cheer - During Senior Night of the winter season, Bradley cheerleaders take part in a fun tradition by creating trifold boards that showcase their journey throughout their years in the program. These boards are filled with a collection of photos capturing memorable moments, friendships, and milestones from their cheer experience. The trifold boards allow the seniors to reflect on their time with the team and share their personal cheer story with family, friends, and fans, making Senior Night even more special.
Bigs & Littles - We have a cherished tradition of assigning "big sisters" to "little sisters." This tradition plays a significant role in fostering sisterhood and unity within the team. Each big sister is responsible for mentoring her little sister, helping her learn material, and offering support both on and off the sidelines. The bond between bigs and littles helps create a sense of belonging and teamwork. This tradition not only helps teach the skills needed to succeed but also builds lasting friendships and strengthens our program's values of leadership, support, and community.
